Garmisch-Partenkirchen

Resort Statistics Trail Map Lodging

Garmisch-Partenkirchen is one of the most important spa resorts of the Bavarian Alps and Germany’s winter sports capital. It is surrounded by the Wetterstein, one of the mightiest mountain ranges of the Northern Alps, and Germany's highest mountain, the Zugspitze (9.730 ft).

Garmisch- Partenkirchen is a lively town with a casino, pedestrian area, excellent shopping and a good number of bars and cafe's. A total of 38 lifts service a good size ski area, with challenges for all abilities. When including the neighbouring ski areas covered under the same ski pass, a total of 53 lifts and over 160km of ski piste are available to skiers.

This resort is also highly recommended for short stays or trip extensions to a main ski week elsewhere in the Alps, as it is only a one hour drive/transfer from Munich Airport!
