West Coast - 10 days
Explore the spectacular scenery by bike, bus and on foot as you journey from Queenstown to Christchurch. The lush rainforests are reached after an exhilarating swoop down Haast Pass out of the tussocklands of Otago. On the mainly flat, forest edged roads, pass through the spectacular coastline with its high cliffs and crashing seas. This can only be described as cycling at its best.
Famous for its rainforest and grinding glaciers that have advanced to within 200 metres of sea level, the scenery is simply stunning. Past glaciation and the work of the Alpine Fault have sculptured a beautiful landscape hard to imagine. Crunch across the icy surface of the mighty Fox Glacier as it grinds to the coast. Each night we enjoy the memories from the comfort of our lodge, or motels with our hosts and fellow riders. Finally we emerge at the top of Arthurs Pass ready to join the Tranz Alpine train for a comfortable and relaxing ride into Christchurch.
