The wild West Coast is not to be missed! Explore the spectacular scenery by bike, bus and on foot as you journey from Queenstown to Christchurch. The lush rainforests are reached after an exhilarating swoop down Haast Pass out of the tussocklands of Otago. On the mainly flat, forest edged roads, pass through the spectacular coastline with its high cliffs and crashing seas. This can only be described as cycling at its best. Famous for its rainforest and grinding glaciers that have advanced to within 200 metres of sea level, the scenery is simply stunning. Past glaciation and the work of the Alpine Fault have sculptured a beautiful landscape hard to imagine. Crunch across the icy surface of the mighty Fox Glacier as it grinds to the coast. Each night we enjoy the memories from the comfort of our lodge, or motels with our hosts and fellow riders. Finally we emerge at the top of Arthurs Pass ready to join the Tranz Alpine train for a comfortable and relaxing ride into Christchurch.

Step back in time to New Zealand’s rural past and join us on this cycle delight. The route follows the old Maniototo rail line from Clyde in central Otago to Middlemarch. Our cycling tour ends with one of the world's great train trips as we travel on the spectacular Taieri Gorge railway into Dunedin. Start with us from Christchurch or Queenstown and finish either back in Christchurch or Dunedin. This trip is not just about the cycling but rather exploring the many small towns and abandoned gold diggings and meeting local inhabitants. Along the way we will even try our hand at the ancient art of curling (bowls on ice) if you are lucky with your timing.
