Bicycle touring along the Amalfi Coast, the island of Capri, Ischia and Procida on the Gulf of Naples, and cities like Pompeii and Sorrento will guarantee an unique bike-travel-experience with lots of nature and culture.
This is a journey that will take place both on land and on water, searching the natural treasures and cultural heritage along the Amalfi Coast and the Gulf of Naples. A cruise on board a historical style gulet, a type of boat that is a legend itself, just as is the sea under your keel.
It is not just a matter of watching and observing, but a truly active journey intended to combine navigation and relaxing with cycling along the narrow streets of Capri, to continue at the feet of the impressive Mt. Vesuvius near Pompeii, and then cycle again on the islands of Procida and Ischia, ending your tour in spectacular Sorrento.
Individual arrival at Castellamare di Stabia (Naples). Embarkation at 6 p.m. Welcome drink, dinner and programme orientation. Your first night is spent in port.
Cycle trip to Pompeii and visit to Pompeii and the Villa dei Misteri. Pompeii is the biggest open-air archaeological site in the world. A great example of past human life, where the huge eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D fixed forever under ashes and lava, men in their daily activities. Return journey to the Marina di Castellammare and departure with the ship towards Sorrento. Overnight on the gulet in Sorrento.
Tour of Sorrento and departure along Sorrento coast. You cross “Passo San Pietro” (St. Peter’s pass) and you reach the Amalfi coast, where you will cycle along the wonderful road overlooking the sea up to Positano. Its colorful houses have been built in amphitheatre shape, overlooking the sea, giving a unique and picturesque aspect to the village. After Positano you continue towards Amalfi, the most powerful Mariner Republic at the end of the 10th century. We suggest the visits to the cloister of Paradise, the church and a walk along the many narrow streets of white fisherman’s houses. Return to the gulet and overnight in Amalfi.
From Amalfi you continue your cycle tour along the coast, cycling on the coastal road with some ups and downs overlooking the sea, crossing the villages of Minori, Maiori and Cetara. It is possible to make a deviation and go up towards Ravello. From the village dominating the sea from 300 mt. above sea level, you can enjoy a view beyond the Gulf of Salerno and up to the Cilento mountains. You return on the road along the coast to finally reach Vietri. You come back on board. Dinner and overnight in the small fishing port of Cetara.
The day starts with a sail up to Capri. We will have some breaks during the sailing to take a swim and to admire the Amalfi coast from the sea. Arrival in Capri in Marina Grande – our arrival port. You visit the Island on foot, reaching the village of Capri with its famous “piazzetta”. Possibility to visit the “Grotta Azzurra”. From above the cliff you can enjoy a wonderful panorama over the Gulf of Naples dominated by Mt Vesuvius. Return to the gulet before setting sail.
Overnight in the harbour of Casamicciola ( Ischia).
You cycle from S. Angelo across the western part of the island. On your way you pass little villages where you have the possibility to visit museums. The scents and flavours of the Mediterranean Sea accompany you. Overnight stay is in Ischia – Sant´ Angelo.
We sail up to Procida, walking visit of the town and San Michele Abbey. Return to the boat to continue to Pozzuoli, in the bay of Naples. Transfer to reach the “Solfatara” site, a shallow volcanic crater part of the Campi Flegrei volcanic area. It is a dormant volcano, which still emits jets of steam with sulfurous fumes. The name comes from the Latin, Sulpha terra, “land of sulfur”, or “sulfur earth”. After the visit, return of foot to the boat. Navigation up to Marina di Castellammare di Stabia (in alternative, we reach Castellammare with public means). Overnight in the Marina of Castellammare di Stabia.
Disembarkation at 09.a.m.
From gently rolling to quite hilly, always along the coast line. Asphalt streets open to normal vehicles (it is likely to have steady traffic in some streets along the Amalfi coast – Amalfitana). Daily stages are quite short and you do not need to be a very experienced cyclist, but a good level of fitness is essential.

All cabins are equipped with shower and toilet, hairdryer, LCD TV, a small wardrobe, a porthole that can be opened, and air-conditioning.

This tour includes:
During the tour the boat will be docked in port for 5 nights. The two remaining nights the ship will stay anchored in roadstead. The roadstead is a place outside the harbor where the ship can lie at anchor. It is an enclosed area with an opening to the sea. Natural roadsteads offer shelter from storms, winds and currents, and are frequently used for naval bases.
Exclusively in exceptional cases (unfavorable meteorological and/or sea conditions), for safety reasons, the ship may have to return into the port also during a night that is scheduled in roadstead.
Only and exclusively in this case, the clients will be asked to pay the tax for the stay in the port. This amount, variable from port to port, will be divided among all the participants of the tour and will be paid directly on site (approximately from 20 to 50€ per person per night, subject to changes).
If two nights are scheduled in roadstead, but clients will be asked to pay for just one night in port in case the ship cannot stay in roadstead. The second one will be offered free of charge.
