With the abundant snow, friendly staff and locals, and short lift lines, it is no wonder that Red Mountain Resort has been named one of the Top Ten Resorts of North America by Forbes Traveler. As Western Canada’s original ski resort, Red Mountain successfully blends a setting full of history, with world-class terrain and amenities.
Red Mountain is up there with the likes of Fernie as a cult resort for expert skiers who can handle its steep terrain, wide glades and powder-filled bowls. While not big in European terms, it packs a lot of tough stuff into its two mountains. The resort has been expanding, but the real attraction is the black and double-black stuff; it’s marked on the map, but not on the mountain.
However Red truly offers something for everyone. At Red, visitors can choose from 87 runs spread across two stellar mountains that feature everything from wide open groomers to steep, powder-filled glades. Known for some of the best trees, steeps and powder in Canada, this hidden jewel is not to be missed, and you will soon learn why so many have fallen in love with Red.
Recently voted as Canada’s #1 outdoor town by Explore Magazine, Rossland is widely renowned for its rugged outdoor adventure and small-town warmth and hospitality. A real community, and just 4km from the ski area, Rossland is known for its’ historical ambiance amidst a new energy of events, festivals and nightlife.
Red Mountain Resort is only a ten minute drive north of the Canada/US Border, a 2.5 hour drive from Spokane International Airport (Washington state) and a 3.5 hour drive from Kelowna International Airport. The regional airports of Trail – a 20 minute drive, and Castlegar – a 30 minute drive also serve the mountain. Rental cars are available from all of the above.
