Big White is situated mid-mountain above the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, making it a great ski-in/ski-out resort village. Located about an hour from the Kelowna airport, the resort is known for its great terrain, sunny mountain, and friendly service. Big White is a modern day ski resort with a village center providing everything needed for a great vacation within walking distance.

Big White boasts 112 trails covering more than 2,000 acres and has a reputation for great powder. Trails are designated 18% beginner, 56% intermediate, and 26% expert. Big White is a good resort for beginning skiers who have their own area to practice. Once the beginner feels comfortable enough to move on, there are beginner runs to try higher up the mountain.

Intermediates rule the mountain with green and blue runs off of nearly every chair. Skiers can take the Gem Lake Express Gondola up to Kalina’s Rainbow to try the powder of the Sun-Rype bowl or try tree skiing off the Black Forest Express, as well. Experts enjoy nearly one-third of the mountain with some 460 acres of open bowls of dry inland powder, 27 unmarked trails, natural hits, chutes and gullies.

Snowboarders of all skill levels find adventure at Big White. For freestylers, there are three snowboard parks and two half-pipes. The resort is home to a world-class Super Pipe with a 17-foot transitional pipe and a full length of 425 feet. There are also 714 acres of powder bowls and 527 acres of open glades.

Big White offers the largest night skiing area in Western Canada. Other winter activities include tubing at the resort’s Mega Snow Coaster in Happy Valley, helicopter tours, ice skating, backcountry touring, sleigh rides, dog sledding, and evening bonfires enjoyed with roasted marshmallows and hot chocolate.

Most properties in Big White ski resort are ski-in/ski-out; others are only steps from the nearest run or lift. For your Big White ski holiday there are three hotels in the village centre; the rooms are all privately owned so the décor and amenities do vary. There is also a huge number of condo buildings, also of varying age and quality. The main day lodge has a restaurant, snack bar, ski shop, and kids’ centre. Big White ski resort offers a selection of restaurants and bars; Snowshoe Sam’s is a lively spot in the centre of the village which usually hosts a live band or some kind of evening entertainment.
